Breed Size, Lifespan, & Maintenance

It's no question that Chihuahuas are tiny dogs with big personalities so when they are mixed with the medium-sized Boston Terrier, they will surely turn onto a mini version! If you're looking for a miniature Boston Terrier, then the Bo-chi mixed breed is the perfect fit. Teacup Boston Terriers especially ones that were bred to have the Dwarfism gene are questionable by nature as it can inflict pain in the breed so it's ten times better to get a mixed breed instead.

The Bo-chi's average weight is 10 - 15 pounds, a far cry from the usual 20-25 pounds Boston Terrier size. They also have an average height of 9-17 inches and a lifespan of 15 years or more! Because the Boston Terrier and Chihuahua by nature have short dog coats, the Bo-chi is also low maintenance in the grooming department. They won't shed a lot and can be easily washed.

Since they are small dogs, they won't require a lot of food as well so you can definitely save up because of this and might even buy them toys instead! You can also have a mini dog-proof space for them in your house even if you just live in a small apartment so this is a great perk that comes with them.

Temperament

The Bo-chi can either lean on the Chihuahua's temperament or that of the Boston Terrier. However, most of the time their temperament can meet halfway. The Boston Terrier is known for its attachment towards its owner and sociability with other people even strangers! The Chihuahua, on the other hand, is an independent breed that only has loyalty for its owner, so the Bo-chi's temperament will surely be one that's mild-mannered but can also be independent. All in all, they don't go into the extremes of each parent dog.

Of course, this won't always be the case! In general, they tend to be loyal dogs that are quite bold and friendly in nature. They can also be somewhat sensitive so make sure to shower them with positive affirmations! When it comes to children, they can be moderately tolerable with them.

The Boston Terrier Chihuahua mix is the curious type and is quite agile despite their small size thanks to their parents. So when it comes to exercise, they could pretty much overdo it! They love to play and will often drag you to play with them so make sure you're ready for these little beasties!

Health Conditions

One of the reasons why breeders mix different breeds is that it helps in eliminating existing health issues. The Boston Terrier for example is notable for its Brachycephalic head that is characterized as a "flat-face". This is because of its inheritance and sometimes this condition creates respiratory problems for them. So when they are mixed with the Chihuahua, this characteristic is usually eliminated and erases the possibility of Brachycephalic syndrome.

Other conditions that the Bo-chi may have are patellar luxation, allergies, eye problems, and heart problems. However, this mixed breed is generally healthy and don't experience most of these health conditions in their lifetime.

The Boston Terrier Chihuahua mix is a cutie pie filled with spunk and love! You'll definitely enjoy their sociable company and won't get easily stressed over them (well, except if they demand a lot of food and love!).

If you're looking for a Boston Terrier mixed breed that is both tiny with a big personality, the Bo-chi might just be the right fit for you! However, there are also a lot of adorable mixed breeds like the Boston Terrier Pug mix or the Frenchton, so make sure to check them out as well.
